Job Title: Sales ManagerLocation: East London
Reporting To: Directors and Senior Sales Manager
Schedule:Monday: Meeting with Sales ManagerTuesday: Directtors Sales MeetingFriday Afternoon: Sales Team Meeting and Weekly PlanningJob PurposeThe Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sales team while executing their own portfolio with a strategic focus on acquiring large, high-value accounts. The role includes managing existing client relationships, achieving and exceeding sales targets, mentoring the sales team, and ensuring smooth coordination between sales activities and company objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Sales OversightOversee the daily function and performance of the entire sales department.Drive growth through the acquisition of significant new accounts.Manage and grow existing customer accounts to meet or exceed sales objectives. * Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with company goals and directives.
  • Represent the Student Group brand in customer and industry engagements.
Mentor, motivate, and lead the sales team to high performance.Team & Workflow ManagementProvide clear, direct instructions and training to staff based on defined job descriptions.Plan and manage daily workflows for all sales personnel.Regularly assess team performance and ensure alignment with targets.Identify training needs and implement development plans according to company standards.Implement and monitor incentive structures to encourage basket sales across all product ranges (cement, clay, and ready mix).Client & Market EngagementMaintain proactive involvement in all client interactions both existing and potential.Conduct on-site meetings, respond to inquiries, generate quotations, and follow up on leads.Suggest and implement sales promotions in alignment with market demands and company strategy.Meetings & CommunicationPrepare and conduct weekly team meetings and meetings with Directors and Senior Management.Maintain thorough and consistent communication with sales teams, Directors, and customers.Submit weekly and monthly reports, including target variances and action plans to close performance gaps.Administration & ReportingComplete all administrative tasks efficiently and within company guidelines.Ensure proper handling of sales portfolios, pricing queries, discounts, and project tracking.Submit comprehensive monthly reports and updated sales plans.Anticipate industry trends and plan proactively for retail, DDP, and municipal sectors.Respond to all internal communications (email, WhatsApp, etc.) in a timely and professional manner.Vehicle & Operational OversightConduct weekly local vehicle inspections for the sales team.Address any salary, commission, or overtime queries in coordination with HR/Finance.Meet with individual team members regularly to provide feedback and support.Daily ResponsibilitiesLiaise continuously with the Senior Sales Manager.Review and report on actual versus target figures.Implement daily action plans to bridge performance gaps.Maintain hands-on involvement in team support and sales activities.RelationshipsDirect Reports: Sales PersonnelReports To: Directors and Senior Sales ManagerLiaises With: Sales Team, Customers (existing and potential), Administrative and Operational Teams
