Background: Electrical or Instrumentation ExperienceJob Purpose:The Technical Sales – Automation role is responsible for generating sales and providing Industrial automation solutions to clients across various industries.Key Responsibilities: * Sales and Solution Generation:
- Generate sales for LV and MV automation products, including SCADA and vision systems, and instrumentation calibration services.
- Propose solutions at all levels, from individual products to complex engineered systems, including service level agreements for process plant support and equipment maintenance.
- Work with Product Specialists to propose more technical and complex solutions, especially related to SCADA, and automation systems.
- Technical Support and Service Offering:
- Provide ongoing technical advice and support to Sales Engineers/Technicians, ensuring they have the necessary guidance for complex sales opportunities, including plant support and automation solutions.
- Engage with clients to design service level agreements (SLAs) for process plant support, including maintenance, equipment calibration, and automation system upgrades.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Maintain and strengthen customer relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Identify and develop new clients, expanding the customer base within the target sectors while offering additional service offerings such as instrumentation calibrations and support for SCADA systems.
- Regular Customer Interaction:
- Conduct regular customer visits to understand needs, present solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Conduct cold calling to identify new opportunities and expand market reach, especially focusing on the plant equipment and automation system needs of prospective clients.
- Business Development:
- Develop and implement strategies to grow market share within key sectors, including Mining, Pulp and Paper, Water and Wastewater, and Food and Beverage, manufacturing, healthcare etc
- Promote the company’s service offerings, including process plant support services, SCADA system integration, and automation solutions, ensuring long-term customer satisfaction and business growth.
- CRM Utilization:
- Regularly use the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to track sales, opportunities, and customer communications.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date data for forecasting and reporting on sales performance, including plant support services, automation systems, and SLAs.
- Project Management/Service Responsibilities:
- Act as Project Technical Manager for client projects, ensuring the technical delivery and quality of automation solutions, including SCADA, and vision systems.
- Oversee service contracts and agreements for ongoing support, plant equipment maintenance, and instrumentation calibrations.
- Provide technical oversight for the installation, commissioning, and ongoing support of automation solutions and vision systems.
- Monthly Forecasting:
- Provide accurate monthly sales forecasting, aligning with business goals and targets, particularly for long-term service contracts and automation solutions.
- Education & Experience:
- Background in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in sales, preferably within automation, electrical or instrumentation products (PLC’s, VSD’s, Switchgear, Instrumentation), as well as experience with SCADA systems and process plant support services.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical understanding of automation products (LV & MV), PLC’s, VSD’s, switchgear, SCADA systems, and vision systems.
- Solid understanding of process instrumentation calibrations and plant equipment maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for relationship building and customer engagement.
- Strong business development capabilities, with a track record of driving new sales in both products and service agreements.
- Ability to provide technical support to a sales team and customers regarding SCADA, automation solutions, and plant support services.
- Ability to work with a high level of independence, managing multiple projects and clients.
- Tools & Systems:
- Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools to manage sales activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant sales tools.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, and plant maintenance software is highly advantageous.
- Other:
- Own car is essential.
- Willingness to travel regularly for customer visits, business development, and service delivery.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a high level of initiative.
