- Event Operations Management: Oversee venue setup, breakdown, and logistical support for all events and hospitality activities. Manage floor operations during events, ensuring smooth execution, guest satisfaction, and timely resolution of issues. Coordinate outsourced services including AV, décor, cleaning, parking, and security. Monitor venue and equipment readiness, reporting operational status to Sales & Events Coordinators.
- Team Leadership and Coordination: Supervise Floor Managers / Event Supervisors, providing guidance and performance feedback. Direct and support outsourced operational staff to maintain high service standards. Foster teamwork and effective communication across Operations, Sales, Catering, Maintenance and Security.
- Supplier & Contractor Management: Manage service providers and outsourced suppliers, ensuring compliance with contracts and service-level agreements. Monitor supplier performance and escalate concerns where necessary. Liaise with external stakeholders (security, décor, AV, parking providers) to ensure service quality.
- Financial Administration & Supplier Management: Place orders with approved service providers in line with event and operational requirements. Monitor delivery of services and ensure supplier performance aligns with agreed standards. Oversee documentation and paperwork for payment processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company finance procedures. Track and report on event-related operational costs to support budgeting and cost control.
- Risk, Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all events comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements, licensing, and regulatory conditions. Conduct operational risk assessments and implement preventive measures. Coordinate with the HR & OHS function to ensure staff are trained in event safety protocols.
- Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Provide post-event reports, including operational feedback, challenges, and recommendations. Collaborate with the Head of Hospitality & Events on workflow improvements to drive operational efficiency. Maintain accurate records of event operations, supplier performance, and compliance checks.
- Matric/Grade 12.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Events Management, Operations, or Hospitality
- 5+ years' experience in event operations or hospitality management
- Proven supervisory/leadership experience in managing event staff and contractors
- Experience in managing outsourced service providers (AV, décor, security, cleaning, parking)
- Health & Safety / OHS certification (advantageous).
- Experience in large-scale event delivery within racing, sporting, or entertainment venues (advantageous).
- Ability to lead and motivate operational teams and outsourced providers.
- Strong knowledge of event logistics, venue setup, and execution.
- Skilled in managing contracts, service providers, and vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of OHS and regulatory compliance for events.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues in real time.
- Strong interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Ensure seamless event delivery through effective planning, staff supervision, contractor management, and compliance with health and safety standards. Contribute directly to the success of a high-profile sporting and entertainment brand in South Africa.
- Play a key role in coordinating with Sales, Catering, Marketing, Maintenance and Security to ensure exceptional client and guest experiences.
