Job DescriptionDirecting all technical operations for the Company; providing technical support to internal and external customers; approving cost estimates or proposals, advising on safety matters; managing staff in the technical areaJob ResponsibilitiesTechnical Services and SupportCritical designs are approved according to applicable standardsEstimation on crucial designs and projects compiled and checked according to customer requirements when necessary.Machines are maintained to ensure the availability and operability of machines for the timely production of productsTechnical support and advice is provided to internal and external customers when necessaryTechnical problems are identified and investigated when they occur, and solutions are providedOutput of technical personnel is monitored to ensure that products meet NRM quality standardsTechnical procedures are prepared and updated within the company when necessaryIntellectual property documents are compiled, monitored, and updated when necessary.Continuous ImprovementTechnical processes within the company are reviewed and improvement projects initiated as required.New Technology is utilised in production to create higher quality products cost-effectively.Financial ManagementThe budget is prepared annually based on recent industry trends and planned activitiesExpenditure is monitored, controlled, and updated monthlyManagement DepartmentManpower capabilities for the department are planned, selected, and developed.Key personnel are identified and retainedThe company's HR and Disciplinary policy is adhered toWork is prioritised, and objectives are set and assigned to suitable personnelTraining records of staff are maintained at all timesPerformance of subordinates are managed as per the company's performance management system.ComplianceSafety meetings are attended and advice given as per current legislationSafe use of machinery is monitored as per the legal obligations of the employerProducts are evaluated according to NRM quality standardsCompliance with relevant legal and statutory requirements is ensured, as well as sound corporate governanceDesired Experience and QualificationsQualification:
  • Grade 12/N3
  • Diploma/degree in Rubber / Polymer Technology
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) applications is essential. Exposure to Pastel will be advantageous.
Minimum Requirement· 10 years experience in a technical environment, including 5 years experience in a managerial role.Pr. Eng (Mechanical) will be an advantage· Excellent planning and organizing skills required.· Strong knowledge of production concepts, including mechanical and basic electrical systems.· Ability to keep track of activity reports.· Competent in problem-solving, team building, planning, and decision-making.· Understanding of ISO and other systems.· Attended to various production/quality audits.Valid Drivers License and own reliable transport
