Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair faults on diesel engines, gearboxes, differentials, brakes, clutches, suspension, and steering systems.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on heavy-duty vehicles and machinery.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing according to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Fault-Finding & Diagnostics
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot engine and system malfunctions.
  • Identify worn or damaged parts and determine necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Workshop Operations
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and workshop facilities are maintained in good working condition.
  • Complete job cards, maintenance logs, and service records accurately and on time.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure repairs meet roadworthy, environmental, and industry safety standards.
  • On-Site & Breakdown Support
  • Attend to breakdowns in the field and perform roadside or on-site repairs when required.
  • Be available for standby duties and emergency call-outs.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education:
  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
  • N2N3 Mechanical Engineering or Diesel Trade Theory advantageous.
  • Certification:
  • Trade Test Certificate Diesel Mechanic (Red Seal).
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 35 years post-apprenticeship experience as a Diesel Mechanic in transport, mining, agriculture, or construction sectors.
  • Experience with heavy-duty trucks, earthmoving equipment, or industrial generators advantageous
