Duties & Responsibilities

Maintenance & Servicing:

Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on diesel generators, including oil changes, fuel system checks, battery maintenance, and coolant system upkeep.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:

Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and by interpreting schematics and manuals.

Repair & Overhaul:

Perform repairs, replacements, and rebuilds of generator components, engines, electrical switching mechanisms, and control systems.

Testing:

Perform load-bank testing to verify generator performance and capacity under load.

Installation:

Install new generator systems and related equipment on-site.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.

On-Call Duty:

Participate in an on-call rotation to provide emergency services outside of normal hours.Desired Experience & Qualification

Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical and electrical systems, troubleshooting, and using diagnostic tools (like multimeters, ohmmeters, and computerized diagnostics).
Experience: Significant experience with diesel engine and generator maintenance, repair, and servicing.
Education: Technical training or a certificate from a technical college or trade school.
Reading Schematics: Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and manufacturer manuals.
Safety: Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout.
Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills.
Other Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, time management, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
