Minimum requirements for the role:
  • Must have an Honours degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or similar
  • Minimum 10 years’ demonstrable experience in 3rd party storage and distribution of chemical raw materials
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in the chemical raw material 3rd party warehousing and distribution industry
  • Strong understanding of chemical safety standards and regulatory compliance is essential
  • Must have experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SALESFORCE, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Holding monthly stock meetings in both South Africa and Kenya.
  • Managing and maintaining accurate inventory records of all chemical raw materials across multiple warehouse locations.
  • Monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations; executing regular cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
  • Collaborating with procurement and sales teams to forecast demand and align inventory with customer needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and chemical handling regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, GHS).
  • Overseeing the receiving, labelling, storage, and issuing of chemical materials in accordance with MSDS/SDS requirements.
  • Implementing and enforcing proper storage practices based on chemical compatibility and hazard classifications.
  • Utilizing ERP and inventory management systems to track real-time inventory movements and generate reports.
  • Investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies and developing corrective action plans.
  • Leading, training, and managing all staff involved in inventory operations.
  • Coordinating with transportation and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and optimize warehouse space.
  • Managing and coordinating multiple third-party service providers under contract management.
  • Acting as backup to the Supply Chain Engineer.
  • Assisting with SLA/SOP third-party billing and performance reviews.
  • Managing month-end reconciliations, including third-party billing.
