Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they have the required skills and competencies to take on this position.The requirements for this position are:
  • A proven academic record and significant teaching experience in Geography at FET level
  • Experience in IEB Matric Geography marking (and curriculum development) would be a distinct advantage.
  • An excellent all-round knowledge of Geography with a passion for both the physical and human aspects of the subject.
  • Experienced in developing learning and teaching material and assessment practices per IEB requirements and needs of learners.
  • Cultivate a spirit of enquiry and ensure that every student is challenged, supported and inspired to achieve their potential.
  • A fundamentally future-orientated approach to teaching and learning.
  • A passion for teaching and for the young men whose learning you would be expected to inspire.
  • A sound and progressive understanding of the South African curriculum and international trends in education.
  • Strong ability to manage and mentor both a department of experienced teachers and intern teachers.
  • Willingness to embrace rapid changes in education and an interest and ability to integrate ICT, GIS, and other technological tools into teaching and learning.
  • Willingness to collaborate with Heads of Departments on Campus to further the love of Geography and curriculum development.
  • Must be familiar with, and experienced in; GIS applications and spatial data analysis; environmental sustainability projects; field trips, fieldwork methodology, and community-based studies; and participation in Olympiads, research projects, and competitions
  • An awareness of the nature of the school and willingness to commit to its all-round ethos and co-curricular and extension activities
  • Continue with support structures for students needing assistance and academic support.
  • An ability to be flexible and embrace change, to take initiative and to act decisively
  • An unequivocal commitment to working as part of an accomplished team
  • Ability to inspire and encourage people to seek and maintain high standards of performance
  • Any staff member working within a school is required to have a sexual offender's clearance certificate
  • Proof of registration with SACE supported by a sexual offender's clearance certificate
