Job duties & responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all construction activities, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Oversee the daily operations on site, ensuring adherence to project specifications and plans.
  • Manage and supervise construction personnel, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring that work is performed in accordance with safety standards and contractual obligations.
  • Allocate resources efficiently, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on-site and ensure effective communication among all parties.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and address potential hazards or non-compliance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Monitor construction quality to ensure that all work meets the required standards and specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to verify that materials and workmanship comply with project requirements.
  • Address and rectify any quality issues or deficiencies promptly and effectively.
  • Oversee construction budgets and control costs, including managing expenditures and tracking financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules, ensuring that project milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Monitor progress against the project plan and adjust schedules and resources as necessary to address any delays or changes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for construction-related inquiries and issues.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to project managers, stakeholders, and clients on construction progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Facilitate effective communication between all project team members and external parties.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date construction documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and change orders.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on construction activities, performance, and compliance.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all construction work and modifications for future reference.
  • Oversee the final stages of construction, including commissioning and handover of the project to the client.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables are completed to satisfaction and that any remaining issues are resolved.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to assess performance, gather lessons learned, and implement improvements for future projects.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry best practices, technologies, and regulations.
  • Any ad hoc tasks as requested by Management.
Education and Experience:
  • National Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are advantageous.
  • At least 8 years of experience within mining, specifically mineral processing industry.
