A leading steel manufacturing and distribution company is looking for an experienced Import Procurement Specialist with strong experience in end-to-end import procurement and logistics to join their team in Kliprivier. The ideal candidate should have a proven background in international and local sourcing, with a proactive, strategic mindset focused on cost-saving initiatives and supply chain optimization.Responsibilities:Source steel products locally and internationally, ensuring favourable terms and quality standardsEstablish and maintain supplier relationships to secure reliable supply and competitive pricingConduct market research to identify new supply sources and product opportunitiesEvaluate and negotiate with processing service providers for cost and quality optimisationManage the full import process including supplier negotiations, shipping, clearing, and freight forwardingEnsure customs compliance and remain current on import/export regulationsMaintain landed costings with all associated charges accurately recordedMonitor global market trends, steel pricing, and tariffs to inform sourcing strategyContinuously evaluate supplier performance and manage associated risksCollaborate with Sales, Operations, Logistics, and Finance to align procurement with business needsMaintain accurate documentation, reporting, and data across the procurement lifecycleProvide preliminary costings and feedback to relevant stakeholdersLiaise with local authorities such as SARS and ITAC to ensure compliance and identify potential duty relief or rebatesRequirements:Minimum of 2 years' experience in import procurement and logisticsMatric / Grade 12 minimum qualificationStrong understanding of international markets and customs proceduresProficient in MS Office, especially Excel; experience with Microsoft D365 advantageousStrong negotiation, tariff determination, and analytical skillsDetail-oriented, organized, results-driven, and capable of working under pressureSelf-motivated with a hands-on, strategic approach to problem-solvingBenefits:
