- Cost Estimation & Management:
- Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BoQs) and cost estimates for solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, mounting structures, and cabling.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and cost calculations for labor, equipment, and materials.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs are tracked and controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
- Tendering & Procurement:
- Assist with the preparation of tender documents and manage the tendering process.
- Evaluate bids from contractors and suppliers, negotiating contracts to secure the best value for money.
- Manage subcontractor orders and associated documentation.
- Contract Administration:
- Administer and oversee contracts, specifically with a strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contract forms.
- Manage change control processes, assessing and valuing variations and compensation events.
- Prepare and submit monthly client applications and financial reports.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and assess commercial risks and opportunities at all project stages.
- Provide expert advice on contractual matters and dispute resolution.
- Site & Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess quality, and verify quantities for progress payments.
- Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a quantity surveying role, preferably within the renewable energy, civil engineering, or construction sectors.
- Proven experience in both pre-contract (estimating and tendering) and post-contract (cost control and valuation) phases.
- Education:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical and numerical abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with cost estimating software, MS Office Suite, and contract management tools.
- Knowledge of solar energy components and systems is a significant advantage.
