The criteria is as follows: -
  • Candidates must have completed a 3-year degree or diploma in IT (must be relevant to End Point Security). Please note that this is NOT a WIL program
  • Candidates must be computer literate and must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet
  • Candidates must have no criminal record.
  • Candidates must currently be unemployed.
  • Candidates must not be participating on another learnership or internship program.
  • Candidates must NOT be enrolled at any tertiary institution.
  • Candidates must live in Gauteng (preferably in the Midrand area) relocation is NOT an option.
  • Candidates must be under the age of 35 as of 1 August 2025
  • Candidates must be a South African Citizen (African, Asian, Indian)
Skills: -
  • Technical Skills (Foundational)
  • Operating Systems Knowledge
  • Basics of Windows, Linux, and macOS security features.
  • Understanding of system hardening and patching.
  • Endpoint Security Tools (Entry-Level Exposure)
  • Antivirus / Anti-malware solutions (e.g., Microsoft Defender, Symantec, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne).
  • EDR/XDR basics awareness of what they do (threat detection, isolation, response).
  • Networking & Security Basics
  • TCP/IP fundamentals, ports, protocols, and how endpoints communicate with networks.
  • Awareness of common attack vectors (phishing, ransomware, privilege escalation).
  • Security Concepts
  • CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability).
  • Incident handling lifecycle (detection, analysis, containment, recovery).
Interpersonal / Soft Skills
  • Eagerness to Learn willingness to pick up new endpoint tools and frameworks.
  • Communication Skills ability to explain issues clearly to senior engineers or non-technical staff.
  • Attention to Detail careful when reviewing security alerts or logs.
  • Team Collaboration working with SOC, IT support, and network/security teams.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset methodical approach to diagnosing endpoint issues.
  • Adaptability adjusting quickly to new tools, processes, and security requirements.
Professional Skills
  • Documentation writing clear notes, security incident reports, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Ethical Responsibility respecting data privacy, handling sensitive information properly.
  • Time Management completing assigned internship projects within deadlines.
