- Manage and run the slitter according to the production schedule to meet specified production targets as per the production plan
- Plan job changeovers to ensure minimum idle between jobs and conduct changeovers in the run to minimize waste, downtime and increase efficiency
- Refer to the job card and ensure that all laid down instructions they relate to machine settings, raw materials, product specifications and customer requirements are followed
- To ensure that hygiene and quality standards are maintained and to carry out in-process quality checks to ensure consistent conformance to specifications and to immediately act on any quality problems. Open an NCA every time a quality concern is identified
- Maintain accurate and up to date paperwork with regards to the machine and the job being produced, including filling in the production sheet
- Comply with the Health and Safety rules at all times and ensure that all safety guards are in place and remain in place during the run
- Consistent implementation and verification of the effectiveness and compliance to the relevant elements of the BRC IoP
- Ensure operations procedures and/or other communications from management are adhered to at all times
- Complete occupational Health and Safety checklists as when required
- Maintain the machine in good operating condition and ensure that housekeeping (daily, weekly, monthly) is carried out in terms of the machine, any related equipment and the general factory area
- To immediately report any defects/malfunctioning parts of the machine or problems to the Manager
- Setting up the slitter for production according to the Works Order , monitoring of settings , caring for the machine and making sure all reels produced conform to required specifications
- Ensure make-ready process requirements are in order, including loading and webbing of reels, web splice, process controls, correct blade width settings and having correct size cores available
- To carry out other reasonable and lawful assignments a requested by management
- Operate and work with colleagues as a team following Liquibox’s values and ways of working
- Matric
- Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing environment
- Good communication skills, with both colleagues and management
- Attention to detail and neatness with regards to paperwork
- High levels of accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to think for oneself and raise questions if in doubt
- Some physical strength require
