POSITION OVERVIEW:The CAMO Maintenance Planner (ad-hoc) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring maintenance activities on an unscheduled or short-notice basis. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, minimizes aircraft downtime, and provides efficient support to line and base maintenance operations. The planner works closely with the Continuing Airworthiness Manager, CAMO team and AMO to deliver safe and airworthy aircraft on time. This position requires you to work weekends only.KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, review, and issue ad-hoc maintenance work packages: Prepare detailed documentation for unplanned maintenance tasks to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficient execution by the maintenance team.
  • Plan and coordinate unscheduled maintenance events, including AOGs (Aircraft on Ground): Respond quickly to operational disruptions by organizing immediate support, minimizing aircraft downtime, and maintaining flight readiness.
  • Liaise with the CAMO team and AMO to identify maintenance requirements: Collaborate closely with engineering and maintenance teams to define technical needs and align planned activities with operational priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (Part 43, Part 127, Part 145, Part 66, and OEM manuals): Verify that all maintenance actions meet national aviation regulations and manufacturer guidelines to uphold airworthiness and safety standards.
  • Track and monitor open maintenance tasks, deferrals, and MEL items: Maintain oversight of outstanding work, ensuring timely resolution and preventing compliance gaps.
  • Maintain accurate records in the maintenance tracking system: Update digital systems with maintenance actions and task status to support traceability, audits, and real-time fleet visibility.
  • Assist in capacity planning and forecasting for short-term resource allocation: Support decision-making by projecting upcoming workload and aligning personnel and resources for efficient task execution.
CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance regulations and requirements (EASA/FAA/SACAA or equivalent.
  • Understanding of maintenance programs, MELs, ADs, and SBs.
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Tracking Systems (e.g., TRAXXALL).
  • Ability to read and interpret OEM maintenance manuals and regulatory documents.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, especially under time-sensitive AOG situations.
  • Attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with engineers, management, and regulators.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineering background (Part 66 licence or equivalent advantageous).
  • Previous experience in maintenance planning or maintenance control.
  • Familiarity with short-term and long-term maintenance planning concepts.
  • Knowledge of SMS (Safety Management System) principles.
