Tyre Attendant (Tyre Technician)

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the successful applicant will perform the following duties and have the following responsibilities:

Installing new tyres on vehicles according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards (including earth moving equipment, cars and trucks)
Remove and replace worn or damaged tyres, including dismounting, mounting and balancing
Inspect tyres for wear patterns, punctures, and other damage and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements
Perform wheel alignments to ensure proper handling and tyre wear
Inflate tyres to recommended pressure levels and check for leaks
Ensure all assets remain compliant in terms of MHSA and other regulations
Maintain and repair on all vehicles including trailer types
Ensure minimal vehicle downtime by ensuring a swift turn-around time for all assets
Maintain workspaces and promote shop safety by cleaning work areas and removing hazardous materials such as oil, gasoline or other fluids
Learn and follow safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace
Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment, ensuring tools and equipment are property stored and maintained
Adhere to workplace safety standards and regulations, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
Conduct periodic checks of equipment and work areas to ensure that they are free of clutter and dangerous materials like broken glass

Skills, competencies and experience required:

Grade 12
Tyre Fitter relevant qualification / training
1-2 years previous experience as a tyre fitter or in a similar automotive service role
Valid drivers licence
Extensive understanding of mechanical tyre systems and tools
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good analytical abilities and decision making skills
Basic understanding of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
