A leading organisation in the food manufacturing and supply chain sector is seeking an experienced QA Technical Manager to lead its Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety (FS) programs across suppliers and distribution centers in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.This role requires a dynamic professional who can set strategic direction, drive compliance with global and local food safety standards, and build supplier capabilities while ensuring the consistent delivery of safe, high-quality products.Qualifications

B.Sc. in Food Science, B.Tech. in Food Technology, or National Diploma in Food Technology (Essential)
Any higher qualification in Food Science or Project Management (Advantageous)
2–4 years’ experience in QA & Food Safety within the food industry (operational quality control exposure required)
Experience in the QSR industry and exposure to global QA/FS programs (Advantageous)

Key Responsibilities

Define and implement QA and technical strategies for food and packaging suppliers across Africa
Ensure compliance with global food safety standards and local regulations
Lead supplier audits, approvals, and corrective action plans to drive continuous improvement
Provide technical leadership on food safety, product integrity, and risk mitigation strategies
Partner with suppliers, franchisees, and internal stakeholders to enhance FSQA capabilities through training, coaching, and capability building
Oversee quality systems including complaint management, product recalls, non-conformance handling, and supplier performance tracking
Support product development and new supplier approvals by ensuring compliance with QA/FS requirements
Act as the primary liaison with franchise partners, suppliers, and global QA stakeholders

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of QA, food safety regulations, and quality control processes
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
Knowledge of incoterms and export/import quality requirements
Ability to analyse complex non-conformance issues and design innovative solutions
