- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming stock for accuracy and quality.
- Maintain accurate stock levels through regular stock taking and ensure that stock records are updated in real-time.
- Properly label, organise, and store items according to their designated location in Stores.
- Monitor and report on stock levels, ensuring that reorder thresholds are met in a timely manner.
- Pick and pack items according to customer orders, ensuring accuracy in quantities and product types.
- Prepare goods for delivery, including labelling, documentation, and ensuring that items are packed securely for transport.
- Ensure that all dispatches are done within the agreed timelines.
- Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) or other relevant stock rotation systems to prevent product expiry or obsolescence.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and ensure discrepancies are reported and rectified.
- Assist in annual stock audits and support the process of reconciling physical and system inventory.
- Adhere to all company health and safety policies, ensuring that the Stores environment is safe, clean, and organised.
- Use the available stores equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Identify and report any health and safety risks or hazards within the Stores Department.
- Ensure and abide by the traffic laws and company safety policies
- Conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Assist internal teams (e.g., sales, procurement) in providing accurate stock information and availability.
- Provide prompt support to allocated teams in resolving stock-related queries.
- Interact in a professional manner with clients during deliveries.
- Address any customer concerns or inquiries effectively.
- Effectively communicate with clients regarding delivery status.
- Report any issues or delays promptly.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs in a timely manner.
- Keep the vehicle clean and organised.
- Monitor fuel consumption and driving habits to optimise fuel efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of stock movements, including goods received and dispatched, following through with the Standard Operating Procedure and/or manual logs.
- Produce regular reports on stock levels, movements, and any discrepancies.
- Ensure that all relevant paperwork (e.g., delivery notes, receipts, inventory reports) are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Matric/Grade 12 (NQF 4) is essential
- 1 - 2 years of experience in a warehouse or storeman role with familiarity in inventory management
- Driver's license is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to operate stores equipment e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks with valid certification (if required)
- Physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy objects
