
Assistant to Financial Manager – Logistics industry – Gqeberha, Eastern Cape

- Process interest and bank charges from bond, loan, and HP statements.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including processing monthly depreciation for over 95 trucks, 135 trailers, and various other vehicles and equipment.
- Conduct monthly reconciliation of vehicle amortisation schedules and process associated interest and finance charges.
- Create and maintain comprehensive reports related to fixed assets and HPs.
- Reconcile diesel statements against QuickBooks records and purchase statements.
- Track and process sales accruals.
- Perform VAT calculations and reconcile VAT for multiple companies.
- Compile and analyse monthly management accounts for multiple companies.
- Compare, analyse, reconcile, and report on differences between daily management reports and monthly management accounts.
- Reconcile intercompany loan accounts, as well as internal customer and supplier accounts.
- Review the outputs of bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and compliance with international accounting standards and SARS regulations.
- Provide assistance to bookkeepers with basic accounting software issues.
- Compile information required for the annual BEE audit.
- Complete Stats SA questionnaires.
- Support the research and implementation of new policies and procedures across all departments.
- Assist other departments with monthly Excel working sheets.
- Create formulated Excel sheets to automate processes.
- Assist the administrative department during busy periods or when staff are absent.
- Provide support to the Financial Manager, COO, and CEO with additional requirements.
- Assist auditors by providing necessary information for monthly audits.
- Analyse physical stock counts, compare them to QuickBooks figures, and investigate any discrepancies.
- BCom or BTech in accounting.
- 3 years of experience in an accounting practice, demonstrating an understanding of all financial department operations.
- Advanced level of Excel proficiency is required and considered the most vital criterion.
- Eagerness to grow and apply problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to review bookkeepers' outputs to ensure accuracy according to international accounting standards and SARS regulations, emphasizing the importance of theoretical knowledge.
- Capable of assisting bookkeepers with basic accounting software issues.
- Able to support the research and implementation of new policies and procedures across all departments, serving as the Financial Manager's "right hand" in these initiatives.
