A well-established manufacturing company in Airport City, Cape Town, is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join their finance team.The successful candidate will manage the accounts payable ledger, ensuring accurate invoice processing and timely payments within agreed terms. This role demands excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple financial transactions and documents efficiently.As an Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:
- Perform bank reconciliations and manage petty cash, ensuring accuracy and proper record-keeping.
- Coordinate local payments and oversee the end-to-end payment process.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts with supporting schedules.
- Process journals for debtors and creditors, including provisions and accruals.
- Review and verify creditor reconciliations and balances.
- Prepare and post monthly journals to reconcile balance sheet items (e.g., shareholders’ interest, provisions, tax, depreciation).
- Process and reconcile intergroup transactions.
- Prepare accurate financial records up to trial balance.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Compile and analyze reports on the company’s actual financial performance.
- Review the fixed asset register and account for depreciation.
- Prepare and assist with the compilation of annual financial statements.
- Ensure tax compliance, including VAT and payroll tax reconciliations, and liaise with SARS on tax matters.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to meet operational requirements and ensure timely supplier payments.
