- BSc Degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering
- At least seven years related experience in the construction environment, preferably in a civils environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects
- Must be SACPCMP professionally registered or in the process of registering (pending professional interview)
- Ideally has had exposure to a wide range of different project types as the project will cover a range of disciplines
- NEC experience preferable
- Transnet experience preferable but not essential
- Must be prepared to work away from home in remote locations; home base is either currently in Cape Town, or is prepared to relocate to Cape Town.
- Knowledge of construction processes
- Knowledge of trades
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Ability read and understand construction programmes and timeframes
- Setting out and levelling
- Knowledge of materials, plant and equipment
- Knowledge of site administration systems
- Co-ordination of construction teams and materials
- Management of staff thorough mentoring, coaching, performance feedback and applying basic industrial relation principles
- SHEQ legislation & implementation
- Cost control and exposure to cost reporting
- Key attributes of the role: Pays attention to detail, ability to deliver timeously and ability to work autonomously
- Willing and able to take charge and lead sites in remote locations without close supervision
