We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Head Mechanic to lead our workshop operations. The Head Mechanic will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical repairs and maintenance, supervising junior mechanics, diagnosing complex vehicle and machinery issues, and ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and quality.Key Responsibilities:Lead and supervise a team of mechanics and techniciansPerform advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repair work on vehicles, trucks, or equipmentAssign tasks and oversee daily operations in the workshopInspect completed work to ensure quality and safety standards are metOrder parts, manage inventory, and ensure tools and equipment are maintainedMaintain service records and complete job cards accuratelyTrain and mentor junior staff and apprenticesEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policiesCommunicate with customers or fleet managers regarding repair needs and costsRecommend improvements to workshop processes and productivityRequirements:Education:Grade 12 (Matric)Trade Test Certificate as a Diesel, Petrol, or Motor Mechanic (Red Seal preferred)Experience:Minimum of 5–7 years experience in a mechanical workshopAt least 2 years in a supervisory or lead roleSkills & Competencies:Strong diagnostic and technical repair skillsLeadership and team management abilitiesExcellent knowledge of engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systemsAbility to read and interpret service manuals and schematicsGood communication and organizational skillsProficient with maintenance software and reporting toolsOther Requirements:Valid driver’s license (Code 08 or higher)Physically fit and able to work in demanding conditionsWillingness to work overtime or be on standby if requiredThe post appeared first on .
