- Develops and implements in-house quality procedures and standards across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and systems engineering domains.
- Maintains engineering quality assurance records using systems such as Shopware.
- Ensures original machine manufacturing data is accessible and adhered to during engineering practices.
- Ensures that manufacturing processes are capable of consistently meeting customer quality requirements.
- Coordinates and supports internal and external quality audits.
- Evaluates audit findings, implements corrective actions, and ensures timely resolution to maintain compliance with QA standards.
- Reviews the efficiency of quality inspection systems and evaluates QA standard accuracy and reliability.
- Drives continuous improvement in machine performance and production quality through process optimization.
- Oversees engineering document control and ensures systems are maintained and updated.
- Prepares technical and managerial reports for stakeholders.
- Manages a facilities support team and ensures daily task completion, inventory control, procurement follow-ups, and compliance with safety (e.g., blood lead levels).
- Liaises with external service providers when additional support is required.
- Operates within defined engineering and quality control procedures to uphold system integrity.
- Identifies departmental risks and reports areas of concern to senior management.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory and procedural frameworks, minimizing wasteful or irregular expenditure.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation required for quality audits and reporting.
- Contributes to the budgeting process by identifying operational needs and financial risks.
- Promotes efficient, economical, and transparent use of engineering resources.
- Monitors spending against budget limits and reports any deviations to the Engineering Maintenance Manager.
- Identifies opportunities to reduce costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with both internal stakeholders and external service providers.
- Participates in relevant stakeholder meetings to provide input and feedback on engineering quality.
- Proactively identifies and resolves problems, demonstrating integrity and professionalism in line with company values.
- Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (NQF Level 6)
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (NQF Level 7)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and relevant quality or maintenance software systems.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance systems and engineering maintenance standards.
- Familiarity with shop floor control systems and statistical process control (SPC) principles.
