Job Title: Owners EngineerLocation: Gauteng, Johannesburg Metro, JohannesburgJob Type: 24 monthContract, Part-Time hours 2-3 days a weekJob Duties:· Technical oversight and assuranceo Design review: Review and approve the consultant's engineering designs, reports, and drawings to ensure they meet the project's technical specifications and the owner's standards.o Scope management: Actively monitor and manage the engineering consultant's scope of work to prevent scope creep and ensure the study's objectives are being met.o Due diligence: Conduct technical due diligence on the feasibility study deliverables, ensuring the information is accurate, reliable, and addresses potential risks.o Quality control: Implement and enforce quality assurance protocols for all engineering deliverables produced by the consultant.· Consultant managemento Contract administration: Assist in the selection of and manage the contract with the engineering consultant, ensuring the contract terms are met.o Performance monitoring: Regularly track the consultant's progress, performance, and compliance with the project schedule and budget. Address any deviations or underperformance promptlyo Technical support: Serve as the primary point of contact for the consultant, providing clarification on owner requirements and strategic direction.o Payment verification: Review and approve invoices from the engineering consultant based on the progress achieved and the terms of the contract.· Integration and coordinationo Interdisciplinary coordination: Ensure seamless integration between the engineering consultant and other parts of the owner's team, such as geology, project controls, and operational readiness.o Data management: Facilitate the exchange of information and data between the owner's organization and the consultant.o Constructability reviews: Conduct constructability and operability reviews of the design with input from operational teams to ensure the final design is practical and cost-effective.· Risk and change managemento Risk assessment: Identify technical risks associated with the consultant's design and study deliverables. Propose mitigation strategies and escalate significant risks to the Project Manager.o Change management: Review and approve technical change requests from the consultant, assessing the impact on the project's scope, cost, and schedule.· Reporting and communicationo Technical reporting: Prepare and present regular technical reports to the Project Manager and project stakeholders, summarising the consultant's progress, risks, and key findings.o Regulatory compliance: Work with the consultant to ensure all engineering plansRequired Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
PMP certification
Previous experience in a similar role within the mining industry
Study management in Mining Industry
Strong knowledge of mining processes and equipment
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
