Job Summary A long-established plastics manufacturing company based in Germiston, seeks a skilled and experienced Industrial Engineer to lead the modernisation and optimisation of its production operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Director to identify operational inefficiencies, introduce improved systems, and implement strategic engineering solutions to ensure sustainable growth and competitiveness.Responsibilities:
  • Analyse existing manufacturing processes and workflows for efficiency improvements.
  • Design and implement lean manufacturing principles and process enhancements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production lines.
  • Oversee capital investment and technology upgrade projects (e.g., robotics, conveyors).
  • Optimise plant layout and material flow.
  • Conduct time studies, cost analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with operations, production, and technical teams to identify bottlenecks and recommend solutions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on operational progress.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards.
  • Support change management during transition to modernised systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in an industrial, production, or process engineering role.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing process optimisation, ideally within the plastics or injection moulding industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead capital investment projects and modernisation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Practical experience with plant layout, workflow optimisation, and automation technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Professional maturity, strategic thinking, and hands-on problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in Afrikaans is preferred due to team dynamics.
  • Willingness to work onsite in Germiston or relocate if necessary.
