Quality Control Specialist

Our client in the Construction industry is currently looking for a Quality Control Specialist, in Durban, Umhlanga.Responsibilities:

Compile and implement Quality Control Plans and Method Statements according to client specifications and industry standards.
Review and approve subcontractor Quality Plans and Method Statements to ensure compliance and support engineering approvals.
Oversee full pipeline quality operations including pipe receiving, trench inspections, pipelaying, welding, wrapping, compaction, and hydrotesting.
Maintain quality control documentation and ensure traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct site inspections to ensure work is performed according to approved specifications and standards.
Monitor compliance with project requirements, SANS1200 and API 1104 standards.
Coordinate material testing and analysis to confirm suitability and integrity.
Identify and resolve defects or non-conformances, implementing corrective actions.
Support subcontractors and CPG partners to meet project quality requirements through training and guidance.
Collaborate with engineers, site agents, and construction teams to uphold quality at every stage.

Requirements:

Matric.
National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
Proficient in MS Office Suite and document management tools.
High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Ability to interpret technical specifications and implement effective quality control systems.
Strong communication (both written and verbal), reporting, and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel when necessary.
Proactive, deadline-driven, with strong time management and organizational skills.
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and embrace new challenges.
Able to work both independently and as part of a team, even under pressure.
Ethical, trustworthy, and committed to continuous improvement.
Minimum of 7 – 8 years’ experience in quality control for pipeline and civil infrastructure projects.
Experience with earthworks, concrete, and pipeline quality processes from start to finish.
Sound knowledge of API 1104 (2nd edition 2022), SANS1200, and other applicable quality standards.
Proven ability to manage project documentation, audits, and inspections under pressure.
