Job SummaryDuties and Responsibilities:
  • To analyse, evaluate, and ensure that all materials throughout the production process conform with the company and customer quality standards, from raw material to finished goods and that deviations are reported, and immediate corrective action is taken.
  • To identify and communicate non-conforming product to Production and QA for further action.
  • Evaluation of external chemical analysis and micro results and verify compliance to specification.
  • Ensure that products and /or raw materials are released on time to prevent delays in despatch or production.
  • Supplier Approval and performance monitoring.
  • Management of consumer complaints and non-conformances.
  • Co-ordinate purchase order and invoice requirements to ensure payment of external laboratories and other materials needed in Quality.
  • Management of document control system according to relevant standards (FSSC 22000).
  • Deputize the QA Manager and be responsible for QA staff when in absence.
  • Completion of BOMS.
Qualifications:
National Diploma: Food Technology
Requirements:
Food Technology/B-Tech qualification or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in a Food testing laboratory.
In-service training or one to two years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing industry with high-quality standards.
Operating within documented Quality Systems.
Proven knowledge and experience of scientific testing techniques.
Ability to interpret results of analytical and microbiological testing.
Attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication – ability to deal with both suppliers and customers.
Good numerical skills.
PC literate.
Good Interpersonal skills – able to work and communicate at all levels throughout the business.
Ability to work well as part of a team as well as under own initiative.
