Our client, a leading player in the contract catering industry, is seeking an energetic and highly capable Project Manager to oversee operations across five busy catering outlets a high-end head office unit, managing a staff complement of approximately 60 team members. This is a high-impact, hands-on role with daily event coordination, where weekend availability is occasionally required to support large-scale functions and bespoke client experiences.DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of all assigned outlets in line with contract specifications, service level agreements (SLA), and statutory compliance.
- Ensure exceptional quality food service and consistent client satisfaction.
- Manage and optimise kitchen processes including food production, standardisation, and menu costing.
- Lead the execution of frequent daily events—ranging from intimate functions to large-scale hospitality services.
- Maintain strict cost controls, stock levels, and kitchen GP margins as per budgeted targets.
- Implement systems to ensure accurate forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and invoicing.
- Uphold all HSE and hygiene standards; ensure all compliance documentation is up to date.
- Drive customer experience initiatives using survey insights and feedback loops.
- Provide strong leadership across staffing, scheduling, leave, payroll, and performance management.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in hospitality, culinary arts, or food & beverage services is preferred.
- Proven experience in project management within a hospitality or contract catering environment.
- Background in high-pressure, commercially sensitive environments essential.
- Experience leading large teams (50+), managing multiple outlets or units.
- Sound understanding of cost control, budgeting, and profit improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with mobilising new sites or implementing operational change is advantageous.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Strong knowledge of the South African catering and hospitality sector.
- Skilled in customer service, team leadership, and event coordination.
- Ability to manage budgets, interpret financial reports, and maintain profitability.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Creative problem-solving with a solutions-driven mindset.
