
Commercial Workshop Manager – Gauteng, Eastrand

Production & Operations Management:
- Oversee and manage all workshop activities, including commercial vehicle assembly, body modifications, and final quality control
- Plan and coordinate daily workflow, staff scheduling, and production targets to meet client delivery deadlines
- Implement process improvements to optimise productivity, reduce waste, and increase efficiency
- Track and report on production KPIs, ensuring continuous process improvement
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and legal requirements
- Liaise with procurement to manage materials and components availability to avoid downtime
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective quality control and inspection procedures
- Ensure all vehicles meet internal standards and relevant industry certifications (ISO, SABS, NRCS, OEM)
- Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and enforce corrective actions
- Train staff in quality assurance processes and monitor adherence
- Prepare for and manage external quality audits and inspections
- Lead, motivate, and supervise workshop, quality control, and assembly teams
- Conduct performance reviews, implement skills development plans, and foster a high-performance culture
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments including engineering, logistics, sales, and admin
- Manage conflict, enforce discipline, and uphold operational standards and workshop policies
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a workshop manager role within the commercial vehicle/Autobody/motor industry
- In-depth understanding of commercial vehicle assembly, modifications, and quality standards
- Strong working knowledge of production planning, workflow optimisation, and quality control systems
- Proven leadership skills with experience in managing multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with relevant compliance standards (e.g., ISO, SABS, NRCS, OEM regulations)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate (MS Office, ERP or production management systems)
- Valid driver’s licence
- Based in or willing to relocate to the East Rand (Springs or Brakpan preferred)
- Autobody / Commercial Vehicle Motor Industry experience ESSENTIAL!!
