PRIMARY SCHOOL HEADGERMAN STREAM GRADES 1 TO 4The German International School Cape Town (DSK) is a vibrant place of learning and exchange for children and young people from Grade 1 to 12. An engaged school community and a dedicated faculty shape the distinctive atmosphere of our school.For our German-speaking Primary School (grades 1 - 4) we are seeking an experienced and committed individual with pedagogical expertise, leadership skills, and a genuine passion for education to take on the responsibility of Head of the Primary School.In this role you will be responsible for : - Creation and revision of the school curricula for grades 1-4 in accordance with the
- regulations of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg (GER)
- Planning and organising the foundation school grades 1 to 4.
- Admission of new foundation school students in consultation with the School principal
- Organising and arranging Open days and parent information evenings
- Development of the Primary School timetable and teacher subject distribution
- Preparation and implementation of change in the Primary School curriculum in conjunction with the Pedagogical Head
- Collaboration with the German Kindergarten and Primary Schools in the greater Cape Town area to develop language support concepts.
- Close cooperation with the DSK Learning Centre and after-school care
- Ensuring a high standard of quality teaching with transition to the secondary classes,
- Creating an environment to promote learning, active implementation of the vision and mission statements
- Attending parent meetings when requested
- Preparing the annual budget for the Primary School
To be considered for this key role you will require : - A relevant teaching degree (preferably post- graduate)
- Have 8 – 10 years of full-time teaching experience
- To be SACE registered
- Experience in a previous senior position in a similar role as Head or Deputy Head of a Primary School will be an advantage.
- Mother tongue German language proficiency with an excellent command of English both written and spoken.
- South African citizenship / Permanent residency or a valid work visa.
Other Skills: - Well-developed public speaking and presentation skills.
- Experience in mediation, counselling and conflict resolution
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively at various levels (verbal, written, interpersonal, public)
- Ability to manage and work within a team
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
