Specific Role ResponsibilitiesKey Duties and Responsibilities
- To carry out diagnostic work and to implement the relevant actions required in terms of servicing / repairing vehicles.
- To take steps to ensure the servicing of vehicles remains within the targeted percentages of the manufacturers' time.
- To discuss matters with the service advisors and customers as required and to provide concrete explanations.
- To ensure standards are maintained with vehicle care and safety whilst performing functions.
- To ensure vehicles are returned to the customer after service in a neat and clean condition.
- To adhere to Motus as well as OEM policies, procedures, and expectations.
- To recommend purchases of capital equipment if need be.
- To complete all forms and documentation as required and to draft relevant reports if need be.
- To mentor apprentices, sign off logbooks and evaluate their technical ability.
- Ensure effective communication with staff, across departments, with customers and service providers.
- Willingness to participate in marketing campaigns when required.
- Valid Trade certificate as technician – essential.
- Valid unendorsed drivers’ licence.
- 2 - 3 Year technician experience within the automotive industry.
- Proven track record for “Fix right first-time.”
- The following qualifications / experience will be advantageous:
- OEM recognized certifications and OEM experience as technician.
- Health and safety related
- Mechanical insight.
- Problem solving and motor vehicle fault finding skills.
- A strong team player yet still able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Customer orientated.
- Fast decision making and action orientated.
- Knowledge of relevant OEM operating programs.
- Sound communication and writing skills to accurately record findings and work on job cards.
- Basic computer skills.
