Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Inventory & Stock Control
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials, tools, and equipment.
- Issue parts and consumables to technicians using job cards or work orders.
- Conduct stock counts (cycle counts and full inventory audits).
- Update CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Warehouse & Logistics
- Organize and maintain storage areas (bins, shelves, hazardous material zones).
- Ensure correct labeling, barcoding, and FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation.
- Prepare deliveries and dispatches (packing slips, waybills, customs docs if needed).
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow OHS Act and warehouse safety protocols (PPE, chemical handling, fire safety).
- Maintain MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for hazardous materials.
- Report damaged stock, shortages, or discrepancies.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Process GRVs (Goods Received Vouchers) and invoices.
- Generate stock reports (min/max levels, obsolete stock, reorder points).
- Assist with procurement requests when stock is low.
- Mandatory Certifications & Training
- Matric (Grade 12) Required
- Forklift License (if operating forklifts)
- Hazardous Materials Handling (if dealing with chemicals, fuels, etc.)
- Preferred Certifications
- Supply Chain/Stores Management (NQF Level 4 or higher)
- SAMTRAC (Safety Management Training Advantageous)
- Basic Computer Skills (MS Excel, ERP/CMMS systems)
- Experience
- 2+ years in industrial stores (oil & gas, mining, construction, or manufacturing)
- Experience with:
- Tool & equipment management
- Spare parts inventory (mechanical/electrical)
- Warehouse best practices (5S, Lean principles)
