- Payroll Management:
- Process and manage payroll for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Liaise with department heads to obtain sign-off on payroll, ensuring all employee data and hours are verified.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure compliance with South African payroll regulations (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL).
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
- Management Accounts:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights for decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Monitor budgets and forecasts, reporting variances to management.
- Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with South African tax laws, including VAT, corporate tax, and other relevant regulations.
- Prepare and submit tax returns and liaise with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as required.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation affecting the studio industry.
- Financial Reporting:
- Produce accurate and timely financial reports for internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Assist with annual audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
- Expense Management:
- Liaise with department heads to review and obtain sign-off on expense reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Monitor and process expense reimbursements, ensuring timely payments and proper documentation.
- Implement controls to prevent unauthorized or excessive expenditure.
- Additional Duties:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Collaborate with the finance team to streamline processes and improve financial systems.
- Admin and filing
- Qualifications:
- A recognized qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance (e.g., Diploma in Accounting, BCom in Accounting, or equivalent).
- Professional certification (e.g., SAIBA, CIMA, or similar) is highly advantageous.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in the studio or creative industry.
- Proven experience in payroll processing, management accounts, tax compliance, financial reporting, and expense management.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of South African accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage) and payroll systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with department heads.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Other Requirements:
- Must be based in Cape Town.
- Knowledge of the studio or creative industry is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
