Job SummaryA leading academic institution is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor with strong experience in risk management, internal controls, and financial auditing to join their team in Cape Town on a 12-month contract. This is a thrilling opportunity for a professionally skilled Internal Auditor to drive compliance and efficiency across various departments by identifying risks, assessing internal controls, and recommending process improvements. Conducting financial, operational, and compliance audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes.
Preparing comprehensive audit reports detailing findings and recommendations for management.
Developing and maintaining audit programs, working papers, and other documentation.
Following up on audit findings to ensure that management's corrective actions have been implemented.
Providing guidance and training to staff on internal controls and compliance procedures.
Assisting in the development of the annual audit plan and risk assessments.
Collaborating with various departments to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
Staying informed on new developments in internal auditing, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
A professional qualification such as CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CA(SA) (Chartered Accountant South Africa) is preferred.
At least 3-5 years of experience in internal auditing, risk management, or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of internal controls, corporate governance, and accounting principles (IFRS).
Proficiency in using audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
