- Lead and mentor a high-performing technical team, providing strategic direction that aligns with broader business objectives.
- Take full accountability for product development, pricing frameworks, and structuring initiatives for key portfolios.
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from the initial assessment of new offerings for commercial viability to leading rate reviews and re-pricing exercises for existing products.
- Work closely with internal teams to provide expert actuarial input on underwriting and capital structuring for new deals.
- Act as a senior technical advisor to both clients and internal stakeholders, translating complex actuarial insights into clear, actionable business decisions.
- Manage financial performance reporting, ensuring all products adhere to best-practice actuarial standards and remain profitable.
- Educational Background: A qualified or nearly qualified actuary (FASSA or equivalent) with a Bachelor's or Honours degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Successful completion of F103 (General Insurance Principles) or an equivalent short-term insurance exam is required.
- Experience: You should have a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the non-life (short-term) insurance industry, with a strong working knowledge of actuarial pricing and product structuring principles. Experience with the SAM capital regime is also essential.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor a technical team.
- Analytical: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable with diverse actuarial models.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
