Job Description: Software Engineer (Plant Automation)
Location: East Rand, Gauteng
Industry: High-Volume Manufacturing
Qualification: BTech / BEng / BSc in Software, Electrical, or Electronic EngineeringKey Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation software and systems within a high-volume manufacturing plant.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA systems to ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and production teams to improve process efficiency and reliability.
  • Implement system upgrades, enhancements, and migrations to support business growth.
  • Manage and monitor data acquisition, reporting, and plant MIS integration.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality systems, and safety regulations.
  • Support system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BTech / BEng / BSc in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in plant automation within a manufacturing or industrial environment or engineering organisation
  • Strong background in PLC and SCADA programming (Siemens, Wonderware, Rockwell, or similar).
  • Ideally certified with MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) or equivalent.
  • Robotics Experience ( ABB or Kuka or similar )
  • Solid understanding of network configurations, virtualization (VMware), and industrial IT systems.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases, VB.Net, or other programming languages will be an advantage.
