We believe we're on the brink of creating something truly awesome.About the role:We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced People Manager with a background in SME growth to join our team and play a pivotal role in our expansion journey. In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, you will thrive managing multiple projects simultaneously and making independent decisions.This 360° HR role spans the entire employee lifecycle, from recruitment to exit, and offers the opportunity to shape and implement impactful people policies, benefits, and processes. Reporting to the UK People Manager, you will lead operational and strategic HR initiatives while managing teams and contributing significantly to our growth and success.This role will initially support the process of setting up a new physical office space in Cape Town.Responsibilities:Talent Acquisition:
  • Support our talent team in end-to-end recruitment processes in South Africa, including job design, sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
People Operations and Compliance:
  • Oversee employee records and ensure legal compliance across all People processes.
  • Handle disciplinary and grievance procedures, providing support to line managers and advising on South African employment law.
Engagement and Development:
  • Lead team performance management programs, including appraisals and personal development plans.
  • Foster employee engagement by developing initiatives that enhance workplace satisfaction and retention.
  • Manage employee surveys and internal communication updates.
Policy Development and Process Improvement:
  • Implement and add to the Midnite People policies and benefit suite to support a positive work environment.
  • Automate and streamline People processes with internal systems to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
  • Ensure compliance with SA employment laws and assist with international global practices.
Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
  • Support managers with HR guidance and assistance.
  • Act as a key point of contact for SA people-related matters within Midnite.
Essential Experience and Skills:
  • Four or more years of experience in a similar HR role, ideally within SMEs or growth-stage businesses.
  • Strong understanding of SA employment law and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrable experience managing people operations, including payroll and employee engagement.
  • Desirable- Previous experience or knowledge in the process of changing employment statuses
  • Desirable- Lead or have been part of a project to establish a new entity in SA.
