FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

Although our accounting function is currently outsourced, this role will serve as our in-house finance lead, working closely with the COO to ensure financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic insight.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, comfortable managing both the day-to-day numbers and higher-level reporting, and able to liaise confidently with our external accounting service provider.Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Monitor cash flow, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring timely updates to the COO.
- Consolidate and validate financial data from outsourced accountants.
- Analyse financial results and present actionable insights to management.
- Operational Finance
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with VAT, income tax, and statutory returns.
- Maintain accurate fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
- Assist in contract and supplier cost analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Prepare and manage audit files in collaboration with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and legislation.
- Maintain and improve internal financial controls and processes.
- Work directly with the COO to align financial data with operational performance.
- Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support business decisions.
- Serve as the finance point of contact for cross-departmental projects.
- BCom degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (essential).
- Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles (essential).
- Proven ability to work independently while managing outsourced accounting functions.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Hands-on approach with a willingness to get into the detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with executives and external providers.
- High level of integrity and discretion.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
