About the job Senior Automation Engineer (Mechatronics)Senior Automation Engineer (Mechatronics)Responsibilties:Identify potential areas of improvement in current manufacturing and/or testing equipment and processes, and manage the implementation of replacement equipment/processesPlan, lead, organise, and control engineering initiatives to ensure future capacity requirements are met through sustaining existing systems and executing new projectsIdentify new technologies, processes, or standards that can be used in the supply chain of The Company to improve and optimise quality and reduce costs in manufacturing and assemblyPlay a lead technical role in developing automation processes across the entire supply chainSupport outsourced automation projects, including:Creating user requirement specificationsProviding technical assistanceOverseeing commissioningSupporting integration into current systemsOffering long-term support for implemented projectsProvide manufacturing insight into new product development or major changes to existing products, influencing design and process decisions early in the product life cycleStay updated on new product development (especially in R&D) and work closely with industrialisation throughout the development life cycleLead manufacturing personnel in implementing new automation and manufacturing standards, including:Software standardsProject planning frameworksDocumentation templatesStandards for parts and processesCommissioning procedures and sign-offsProvide technical support for existing legacy equipment and systemsShare knowledge of The Companys manufacturing processes and systems with team members to enhance their technical capabilitiesContinuously develop technical expertise to remain a specialist in automationActively bridge gaps between departments and personnel within The Company by implementing effective communication strategies and integrated project planningQualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Requirements:BEng in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent qualification7+ years experience in automation engineering and development of new systems in a highly technological environmentUnderstanding of electronic system designUnderstanding of mechanical system designUnderstanding of mechatronic system designExperience in electronic initiation and the mining industry (advantageous)
