Construction Manager: Construction Project Management (hospitality, warehousing and commercial buildings) - cCpe TownFull job descriptionJob Context:Our client is a dynamic project construction management company based in Cape Town. They specialize in high-end projects in the hospitality, warehousing, and commercial building sectors (not residential). They are looking for a seasoned Construction Manager with a strong background in overseeing construction projects from start to finish. The role offers the opportunity to lead and manage projects across South Africa, significantly impacting the built environment. Our client's work methodology is based on the principle of value engineering - finding the perfect balance between functionality and cost to ensure that every project receives maximum value from the capital investment made. Role: As a construction manager, you will oversee the successful completion of construction projects and ensure adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and timelines. Your leadership will be pivotal in engaging with the in-house Project Manager and external contractors to deliver exceptional results. The role is ideal for someone who wants to develop a reputable career and is willing to work throughout South Africa. Responsibilities: Lead construction projects through stages 4 to 6, ensuring efficient building practices and compliance with regulations. Oversee contractor contracts, approve work, and negotiate agreements. Develop and control project timelines, monitoring and reporting progress at each phase. Facilitate communication and decision-making between construction teams, architects, designers, and clients. Implement quality control programs and identify risks to mitigate delays. Supervise pre-construction, pre-tender, and construction phases. Compile accurate project reports for stakeholders. Manage an in-house construction management team. Conduct on-site administration and inspections. Requirements: A BSc Degree in Construction Management is preferred, but our client will also consider an ND in Building or a BTech Degree in Construction Management. A degree in Civil Engineering will not be considered. Minimum of 6 years' hands-on, site-based experience in the Construction Industry. Knowledge of the hospitality, warehousing, and commercial sector, with experience in new builds, refurbishments, and high-end project finishing. Willingness to work on different sites within South Africa for extended periods. Strong leadership qualities and the ability to manage teams effectively. Proficiency in MS Projects, Excel, and Word. Self-motivated with strong numerical, administrative, and communication skills. Driver's license and own transport. SACPCMP registration is advantageous.
