- Develop and submit weekly planning schedules for site visits based on priority and project requirements to the Contracts Manager.
- Coordinate annual in-house training sessions for survey students and relevant personnel as necessary.
- Manage all survey equipment, including cable detectors, Troxlers, and lasers, ensuring proper issuance, inspections, servicing, record-keeping, and repairs.
- Provide comprehensive information to team leaders and operators prior to commencing work activities.
- Conduct training sessions for students and technical personnel according to company standards.
- Evaluate student surveyors, addressing any areas for improvement.
- Foster open and healthy communication channels throughout the team.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and take disciplinary action when necessary.
- Maintain the safety, accuracy, and upkeep of instruments and tools provided.
- Regularly inspect instruments and report any issues to the Contracts Manager.
- Take responsibility for reporting damages or malfunctions promptly.
- Verify the accuracy of benchmarks, survey beacons, and existing connection points.
- Provide adequate benchmarks for precise project layout.
- Report any discrepancies from plans or existing data.
- Monitor previous day's levels, especially in ongoing work areas.
- Stay updated on industry developments and techniques.
- Ensure correct alignment of services during installation.
- Measure work progress daily and complete survey and costing sheets when required.
- Allocate appropriate cost codes for fuel and labor expenses.
- Accurately set out projects according to drawings, specifications, and company standards.
- Maintain the plan register and update it as necessary.
- Document as-built information and report any variations.
- Survey existing ground levels and document discrepancies.
- Uphold quality standards and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with engineers using appropriate channels.
- Cultivate positive relationships with engineers, clients, and the public.
- Stay informed about public access and contract-specific requirements.
- Report any potential issues regarding access or other concerns to the Site Agent.
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in surveying and project management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software and equipment.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
