- Qualification in Food Science / Food Technology / Animal Science / Meat Science or equivalent (essential as nature of job requires)
- Valid Code 10 or 14 driver’s license and own reliable transport
- Minimum 2 years' working experience in the meat or food industry
- At least 2 years' supervisory experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Abaserve
- Proven knowledge on relevant Food Safety Management Systems and OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) knowledge and experience
- Supervise, coach and manage the slaughter floor employees to meet product volume requirements
- Provide ongoing job training to the staff for support and advanced planning
- Maintain a safe working culture amongst the slaughter floor employees through the implementation of company values, policies and procedures
- Stunning and bleeding – ensure that all livestock are stunned correctly and appropriately (always)
- Assist the Slaughter Floor Manager in maintaining high yields of food safety operations on slaughter floor to ensure a continuous supply of safe and wholesome meat for consumers
- Conduct daily cleaning inspection checks to ensure hygiene on food contact and nonfood contact surfaces
