Trading
  • Interact with Portfolio Managers, confirming instructions
throughout the session
  • Have an up-to-date knowledge of market news and moves
  • Interact with Brokers continuously to carry out trade
instructions
  • Ensure best execution by minimizing slippage & transaction
costs
  • Trade international markets - outside SA hours
  • Ensure compliance with internal trading limits and risk
controls.
Trading admin
  • Liaise with back/middle-office and Prime brokers to ensure
timely trade settlement
  • Send out end of day trade report and save open orders with
PM instructionsOther admin
  • Send portfolio SSIs to brokers for the opening of accounts
  • Ensure brokerage rates are kept updated on NX Manager
  • Assist PM with miscellaneous requests
  • Maintain brokerage paid excel sheet
  • Send stock recall emails to stock lenders
  • Ensure compliance with PA trading and Insider Trading
policies20% Portfolio & Risk Analytics
  • Evaluate portfolio performance using quantitative metrics such
as Sharpe ratio, VaR, and tracking error.
  • Assist in building risk models to measure and mitigate market,
credit, and liquidity risks
  • Coding using VBA, R or Python advantageous
Performance Reporting & Attribution
  • Generate reports on investment performance, attribution, and
style analysis.
  • Provide insights on portfolio returns relative to benchmarks.
  • Develop dashboards and visualization tools for stakeholders.
Technology & Automation
  • Explore cloud computing and AI tools to enhance data
analysis capabilities.
  • Automate data processing tasks
Education
  • Relevant graduate and postgraduate qualification
  • Registered Persons Exams
  • JSE Equity Trader exams
  • CFA Level 1 an advantage
Experience
  • 2-5 years institutional buy or sell side trading (preferably in
equities/derivatives)
  • Trading administration experience an advantage
