- Hire, train and supervise production employees, such as assemblers, packers and equipment operators
- Create work schedules, assign tasks and coordinate manufacturing activities
- Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to achieve cost-effective solutions
- Allocate resources, such as equipment and personnel, to maintain production standards
- Estimate manufacturing costs and identify ways to reduce them
- Evaluate employees’ performance and coach production teams
- Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure finished goods meet quality standards
- Monitor production output and adjust processes as necessary to meet deadlines
- Provide training and resources to ensure production teams understand safety protocols
- Review and audit production processes to identify strategies for improvement
- Make decisions related to production, such as staffing and scheduling decisions
- Prepare production reports for senior management
- Quality control: Identify defects in finished goods to maintain quality standards. These abilities may also involve using software or tools, such as check sheets, to improve efficiencies.
- Safety: Knowledge of safety protocols to adhere to regulatory requirements and company policies. By training others on safety processes, such as equipment maintenance and protective equipment, you can maintain a healthy and productive working environment for all team members.
- Inventory management: Track different types of inventory throughout all phases of production. Consider developing inventory management skills to monitor the level of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods in production. These skills also allow you to determine the most effective techniques you can use to monitor inventory within the facility.
- Leadership: Lead employees, including those who manage smaller teams, such as production supervisors. Effective leadership skills to set production goals and motivate employees to achieve them.
- Communication: Skills to speak with employees about the priorities and expectations you have for them. Align production goals with the company’s mission. Preparing production reports clearly and concisely.
- 3-5 years experience in the glass & aluminium industry
- Proven track record
