Maintenance Diesel Mechanic Artisan

• Execute scheduled and routine maintenance on Trucks and LDV’s, machinery and equipment.
• Perform engineering inspections identify problem areas and implement pro-active maintenance and plant improvement corrective action.
• Optimise vehicle reliability by continually improving the preventative maintenance system through the identification of opportunities for improvement.
• Provide appropriate and adequate feedback and input to the Engineering Team Manager with respect to plant condition, spares and scheduling requirements, and repairs carried out.
• Perform safety and health inspections and implement corrective action.
• Assist in the training and development of subordinates.
• Be actively involved in World class initiatives.
• Maintain World Class filing in maintenance.
• Must be actively involved in housekeeping on plant, site and all subsidiary equipment.
• Perform overtime and standby duties.
• Work the prescribed shift pattern.
• Work without supervision at all times.

• Matric / Grade 12.
• Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic.
• Minimum of 2 years Mechanical experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working on Hydraulics, MAN, Volvo and Astra Trucks.
• Experience working with hand tools such as jigsaws, drilling machines, bench grinders and machinery.
• Pneumatic experience advantageous (essential diesel mechanic).
• Good understanding and knowledge of safety standards, quality management and production processes.
• Closed and open loop Hydraulic experience essential (advantageous if Diesel mechanic position).
• Low voltage DC electric/hydraulic interface experience.
• Hands-on hydraulic, electrical and maintenance experience is essential.
• Good understanding of PLC logic required.
• Axles/brakes/prop shaft experience essential (Diesel Mechanic).
• Code 14 driver’s license advantageous.
