VACANCYSA STEELWORKS – MELTING CONTROLLERAIRPORT INDUSTRIA – CAPE TOWNSA Steelworks has a Melting Controller position available, for committed and hardworking individual.The successful candidate will provide support to the Meltshop Department situated at Airport Industria branch, Cape Town. Applicants will be required to complete a skills test. Only those candidates with an average of 70% pass rate will be invited for a personal interview. (SHIFT POSITION)Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Control all operational aspects of the Furnace Department, i.e. management of the Furnaces, Ladle furnace; water cooling systems, and mobile machinery.
Ensure that all Furnace operational procedures are adhered to on a day to day basis.
Ensure high quality standards in accordance with set targets and customers order specifications
Monitor and control desired tapping temperatures
Ensure furnace deck areas are safe and clean to work on.
Ensure correct analysing and saving of sample data in the spectro lab.
Ensure housekeeping – “clean as you go” are followed and achieved
Utilize resources sensibly to achieve set daily targets and to minimize down time.
Responsible for the daily inspection of machinery and equipment and the requisition of consumables.
Control the team and process sensibly and ensure that shift runs smoothly.
Manage quality standards in accordance with set targets and guidelines
Implementation and monitoring of Occupational Health and Safety compliance

Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:

Matric (Maths compulsory)
Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office)
Must have ability to detect machine discrepancies
Excellent Communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production or mechanical environment;
Self-motivated, self-driven individual able to perform well with minimum supervision;
Willingness to work overtime and SHIFTS
Ability to work under challenging conditions
Must have basic knowledge of Health & Safety Rules
In good health, physically fit
