- Provide expert advice and strategic direction on all maintenance-related activities across lodges, staff villages, and the reserve.
- Manage both reactive (breakdown) and proactive (preventative) maintenance to uphold and exceed the andBeyond operational standards.
- Oversee the deployment and scheduling of all maintenance personnel and contractors, ensuring optimal staffing and productivity.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of all physical infrastructure including buildings, energy systems, water systems, and staff facilities.
- Design, implement, and maintain solar energy systems to maximize renewable energy usage and minimize dependency on generators.
- Oversee all electrical systems, including three-phase and single-phase installations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance.
- Manage water purification, storage, and distribution systems, including maintenance of grey water and sewage treatment plants.
- Lead water-saving and power-reducing initiatives aligned with lodge sustainability goals.
- Serve as the project manager for all construction, renovation, and infrastructure upgrade projects across properties.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors, artisans, and suppliers, ensuring high-quality workmanship and timely delivery.
- Liaise daily with Lodge Managers to identify and prioritize technical needs and projects, providing regular progress updates.
- Recruit, onboard, and manage technical staff including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, and general maintenance workers.
- Provide continuous training and upskilling in best practices, safety procedures, and sustainability protocols.
- Foster a team culture focused on pride in craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support Lodge Managers in the development of monthly maintenance and annual CAPEX budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and cost control.
- Oversee the procurement and stock management of maintenance supplies, tools, and materials with strict budget adherence.
- Maintain administrative systems for maintenance reporting, work order tracking, procurement, and cost allocation.
- Ensure compliance with all financial processes, including invoice processing and stock reconciliations.
- Conduct daily team briefings to plan, assign, and review maintenance tasks and projects.
- Maintain open communication channels with lodge and operations management; provide clear, concise, and solution-focused feedback.
- Actively participate in management meetings, contributing technical input to broader operational planning.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Minimum of 3–5 years in a senior maintenance or technical management role in a lodge, resort, or similar hospitality environment.
- Proven experience in the management and operation of:
- Solar power systems
- Water purification and greywater treatment
- Electrical systems (single and three-phase)
- Plumbing and sewage systems
- Refrigeration and air-conditioning
- General building maintenance
- Formal qualifications or certifications in Electrical, Solar Installation, or Mechanical Maintenance preferred.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, construction drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Valid Driver’s License required.

- Lead daily maintenance meetings at 7:00am to assign tasks, update planning boards, and coordinate project work.
- Use planning tools to manage:
- Camp-specific tasks
- Breakdowns and emergency repairs
- Preventative maintenance schedules
- CAPEX project milestones
- Artisans, contractors, shopping needs, and material orders
- Prioritize work effectively; avoid reactive crisis management by encouraging strategic planning and foresight.
- Monitor progress of maintenance activities, ensuring completion, accountability, and follow-through.
- Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, leave, and HR-related documentation in coordination with Human Capital (HC) department.
- Administer performance reviews, conduct disciplinary hearings, and promote staff wellness and retention.
- Manage procurement, inventory control, and negotiate with suppliers for best pricing and quality assurance.
- Maintain records of all tools, materials, and machinery; ensure regular servicing and safekeeping.
