Job Description
- Develop process engineering design with support from other engineering disciplines or consultants: Project definition and scoping, Process Design Criteria, PFDs, Process descriptions, P&IDs, Datasheets, Control and Operating philosophies, execution plans, commissioning plans and operational readiness plans
- Facilitate and/or Manage feasibility studies, design and engineering, execution and construction, commissioning and handover of projects
- Participate and/or facilitate Hazard and Operability studies
- Accountable for ensuring robust and accurate process engineering deliverables
- Develop and roll out standard process engineering documentation
- Manage process related projects from initiation through to implementation, covering: pre-feasibility, feasibility, design, execution and closeout
- Establish project requirements, priorities, and deadlines by undertaking effective stakeholder engagement, managing inputs, generating well defined user requirements, scope of work, accurate schedules and costing;
- Develop execution strategies (in-house, semi-turnkey or turnkey) by assessing the project complexity, risk, resource loading and expertise, investment appetite and priority pertaining to business strategy;
- Ensures that all the relevant project management documentation and controls are in place to monitor and track project progress enabling on-time and within budget delivery of projects
- Demonstrates strong understanding of engineering deliverables at the different phases of a project, and implements the relevant controls to ensure that design and engineering complies to best practices;
- Ensures that all project risk assessments, HAZOPs and constructability reviews are effectively undertaken with the required documentation and stakeholders
- Ensure projects are delivered on-time, within budget, meets the stakeholder’s approved requirements and business objectives as committed;
- Ensure projects are completed in accordance to AECI guidelines, policies and procedures. In the absence of updated standards, best global practices shall be adhered to
- Apply in-depth knowledge on all aspect of a project, which include Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Quality and Contract (FDIC etc.)
- Report on project progress, cost, schedule, risk, mitigation plans and governance at weekly, monthly and quarterly Meetings including steering committees
- Active representation and participation in the annual capital budgeting process
- Support the Group Corporate Project’s department with continuous improvement of the project governance procedure, and its roll out across the Group
- Support Senior Project managers in the development of Project Definition and Front end loading
- Support Senior project managers in the development of project schedules, costing and project execution strategies
- Comply with project governance requirements
- Maintain alignment of project teams with business unit objectives
- Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, internal and external stakeholders
- Evaluate and manage project risks and contingency plans in addition to process safety related risk management
- BScEng/BEng (with honours) in Chemical Engineering. A BTech degree in Chemical Engineering may be considered if candidate has experience in synthesis processes, explosive design, engineering and commissioning
- Management certification/Qualification would be advantageous
- Preference will be given to a candidate that has 10 years’ process engineering and project management experience, ideally in the project management field
- The ideal candidate has strong engagement skills, is self-motivated and driven with a focus on adding value through the on-time delivery of strategic projects
- Deliver results through quality and safety awareness, planning and organizing, decision making and execution to readily deliver value
- Firm understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Demonstrated Project Management track record, and ability to manage multiple projects with internal and external stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in computer literacy i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power-point, MS Projects, and SAP
- Excellent writing skills – Technical Reports and Business Cases
- Excellent command of the English Language
- Strong and Effective Communication skills
