A top-tier industrial manufacturing company based in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team. This role will focus on advanced machine design, maintenance support, and continuous improvement across mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in industrial machinery design, preventative maintenance strategies, and project leadership.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesign complex industrial machinery, including structural components, sheet metal parts, and large-scale mechanical assembliesProduce detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and comprehensive manufacturing/assembly instructionsExecute quality assurance on mechanical work and drive predictive maintenance effortsMaintain and schedule tasks using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)Collaborate with departments to resolve equipment failures and propose technical solutionsEnsure all engineering activities comply with safety regulations and internal quality standardsGenerate technical reports on failures, preventive actions, and equipment performanceSupport continuous improvement initiatives within design and operational frameworksMinimum RequirementsBSc/BEng/BTech in Mechanical Engineering8-10 years' experience in maintenance or production environmentsProficiency in CAD and computer-aided engineering softwareStrong practical exposure to machinery maintenance or manufacturing processesAdvantageous experience in hydraulic system design and electrical control systemsProven project and team leadership capabilityValid driver's license and strong administrative proficiencyFamiliarity with OHS Act and safety proceduresHands-on experience working with a CMMS systemExcellent written and verbal communication skillsReady to take the lead at one of SA's top manufacturing facilities?RPO Recruitment can help you secure your next opportunity.
