Job Description :A solid opportunity exists to join the operations team as Finance and Procurement Assistant in an agricultural company supplying world class products and services throughout Africa. The company is based in SA with subsidiary businesses in Zambia, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and Zimbabwe. It is a mid sized business with a dedicated team who work across sales and marketing, technical, finance and operations.The Finance and Procurement Assistant provides essential support to the finance and procurement team, ensuring accurate financial processing and the efficient procurement of goods and services.Key ResponsibilitiesFinance:
  • Process and manage supplier invoices and statements on Xero.
  • Manage supplier payment cycles.
  • Track and manage purchase order numbers issued to procurement.
  • Reconcile customer statements.
  • Reconcile petty cash and travel allowance accounts.
  • Assist in preparing pro forma invoices.
Procurement:
  • Process and manage supplier orders.
  • Reconcile purchase order numbers with open orders.
  • Reconcile purchase orders with goods received notes.
  • The Assistant will also provide administrative support to both the Finance Controller and the Procurement Controller.
Collaboration across various divisions within the business and its subsidiaries is expected. Being part of a smaller, multidisciplinary company, the Assistant must have a willingness to multitask and be prepared to support general business operations when required.This role involves interaction with a diverse range of stakeholders and requires a collaborative, detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and emotional intelligence. The successful candidate will demonstrate accuracy, self-discipline, organisational ability, and a commitment to excellence.Requirements
  • Completed a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
  • Sound knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping
  • Familiar with procurement principles.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in Xero accounting software.
  • Advanced computer skills with strong Excel skills.
