Key Responsibilities:
Control Management:
  • Ensures that contract obligations and terms are interpreted, implemented and managed at sites.
  • Convey decisions taken by Management to Process Personnel
  • Compile reports to the Site Manager on issues at the wash plant e.g., production achieved, cost, Status, Training, Quality Control
Customer relations management:
  • Regular contact with Engineering Team and ensure a 100% customer satisfaction rate as well as positive feedback
  • Assist sub-ordinates in dealing with unresolved issues
  • Ensure Coal Washing, Press and Screening Plant Policies are adhered to and regular communication takes place with relevant OEM’s
SHEQ management:
  • Provide SHE standards and procedures aligned with client SHE programmes
  • Assess SHE performance of sub-ordinates through training and development
  • Identify sub-standard practices that does not comply 100% to legislation and the policies and procedures
  • Monitor corrective actions
  • Conduct regular PTO’s and practical compliance assessments
Managing Budget:
  • Assist to manage the spend budget for Wash Plant and other equipment.
  • Identify trends e.g., Magnetite consumption.
  • Overtime hours worked
  • Site complements
  • Compile and implement corrective action plans to rectify negative trends
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained
Managing the team:
  • Select and appoint competent and passionate people for the Washing Facility
  • Assign work
  • Monitor performance
  • Train and develop team members
  • Maintain discipline in the plant
Plant maintenance:
  • Ensures that sub-ordinates maintain the Entire Operation and associated equipment according to engineering standards
  • Ensures that maintenance is managed cost-effectively at the site
  • Ensures maintenance system is implemented and maintained at all times on the Process equipment
Minimum requirements:
  • Mineral Processing Qualification with Unit Standards
  • Basic Coal Preparation
  • A Supervisory Development Programme
  • A course in Practical Safety
  • Advanced Coal Preparation qualification will be advantageous
  • 7 years experience in a coal washing plant of which 3 years experience should have been as a supervisor
